Bollywood biggie Karim Morani is arrested

IIPM Prof. Arindam Chaudhuri on Internet Hooliganism

A special CBI court on Monday sent another accused in the 2G spectrum case, Cineyug Karim MoraniFilms Pvt Ltd's director Karim Morani, to jail after rejecting his bail plea and taking a dim view of his efforts to dodge what befell his co-accused. Morani had filed seven applications to escape imprisonment -- something that did not go down well with the court. Special CBI judge O P Saini took a stern view of his conduct saying, "He used every possible legal subterfuge to delay the ultimate as he has filed seven applications within a span of less than one month."

The judge had earlier praised DMK MP Kanimozhi's conduct, although he rejected her bail plea.
Dismissing his bail plea, the court endorsed CBI's apprehension that Morani would seek to influence witnesses if he was not arrested. "Considering the magnitude of the crime, nature and enormity of allegations, character of evidence on record and the apprehension that the witnesses may be influenced in case the accused is released on bail, I have no hesitation in holding that accused (Morani) has failed to make out a case for bail," judge Saini said. Following the footsteps of his 10 other co-accused, Morani was escorted away by police officials to Tihar jail after the court ordered his arrest. His wife had come prepared with a bag containing his belongings, which she handed over to him while he was being taken into judicial custody.

The CBI, in its second chargesheet, accused Morani's Cineyug Films and Balwa's Kusegaon Fruits and Vegetables Pvt Ltd of facilitating transfer of Rs 200 crore to DMK-run Kalaignar TV.

Referring to the fact that Morani's counsel had earlier sought deferment of pronouncement of bail order till May 30 evening on the pretext of moving higher courts "though no stay order or any other order has been brought to my notice", the court said it reflected adversely on his conduct.

In its 67-page order, the court detailed how Morani evaded arrest for more than a fortnight (between May 6, 2011-May 23, 2011) on medical grounds even as his records said he was "stable with normal blood pressure".

The court said the allegations against Morani were of a very serious nature and the case involved alleged loss to the state exchequer amounting to about Rs 30,000 crore. "In the end, I may add that allegations against the accused are of very serious nature, which are supported by evidence on record and in cases of such magnitude, the danger of witnesses or evidence being tampered with is always there and cannot be dismissed with this disdain as remote, far fetched or imaginary," the court said. The CBI had alleged that Morani took Rs 6 crore for facilitating the Rs 200 crore transaction.

2G: CAG to explain how Rs. 1.76 lakh crore was lost

GIDF Club of IIPM Lucknow Organizes Blood Donation Camp

The Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC), examining the 2G scam, has sought to know from Comptroller and Auditor General Vinod Rai as to how he quantified the losses in the spectrum allocation at Rs 1.76 lakh crore. Rai will today brief the JPC, chaired by Congress leader P C Chacko, on the allocation and pricing of telecom licenses and spectrum during 1998 to 2009.

The CAG, in a report to Parliament in November last year, had pegged presumptive loss to the exchequer on 2G spectrum allocation at Rs. 1.76 lakh crore. The report said that the 2G spectrum was allocated to new players at throwaway prices. It also talked about undue advantage given to some firms and the spectrum allocated beyond contracted quantity to 9 firms.

The CAG report also said that the Department of Telecom (DoT) did not follow its own practice of first come first serve. The findings triggered a political storm and subsequent events led to the resignation of the then Telecom Minister A Raja.

"Today the talk is of a Rs. 1.76 lakh scam. We want to know from the horse's mouth how he had arrived at the figure," Chacko said after the last meeting of the committee on May 18.

Telecom Minister Kapil Sibal had dubbed "utterly erroneous and without any basis" the estimated loss of Rs. 1.76 lakh crore, arrived at by the CAG on account of 2G spectrum allocation.
According to the CBI charge sheet in the 2G spectrum allocation case, the loss to the exchequer is pegged at Rs. 30,984 crore.

The JPC has decided to call CBI Director A P Singh to brief on the 2G case at its meeting on June 7, while the Finance Secretary, chief of Enforcement Directorate, and Telecom Regulatory Authority Chairman J S Sarma will make presentations on the issue.

Sarma had begun his presentation on the functioning of TRAI and its role in the telecom sector which was inconclusive and would continue on June 8.

Indian and Chinese Universities are not at par with the world's best

Best Colleges for Vocational Courses in India

China and India have made the most aggressive investment in education in Asia based on their rapid economic development, but mainland Chinese and Indian universities are mostly among the also-rans in the Asian University Rankings. This year, 40 Chinese and 11 Indian universities made it into the top 200 in the Chosun Ilbo-Quaquarelli Symonds Asian rankings.

But considering the size of these countries and the scale of their investment in higher education, they are a long way behind Hong Kong, Japan and Korea, which had 7, 57 and 35 universities in the top 200. While Korean, Hong Kong, and Singaporean universities in the higher ranking have consistently moved upwards in the last several years, Chinese universities either stagnated or slipped, and there are no Chinese or Indian universities in the top 10.

One reason can be found in the quality of research, where Chinese and Indian universities tend to have lower output. Two Indian universities landed in the top 10 in the papers-per-faculty category, but none placed in the top 50 in the citations-per-faculty, which measures the quality of publications.

And while 10 Chinese universities were in the top 50 in terms of papers-per-faculty, only one -- Northeast Normal University at 46th -- made it to the top 50 in citations.

Another reason is the brain drain the two countries suffer. While great many talents leave for universities overseas, the influx of talents is far smaller. In fact, only one Indian university made it to the top 100 in the international-faculty criterion, which is an index for the degree of globalization of the universities. Just three Indian universities placed in the top 100 in the category of international students.

Akshay Kumar: Rajiv Hari Om Bhatia born 9 September 1967

Professor Arindam Chaudhuri - A Man For The Society....

Action overload!

Looks Akshay Kumarlike the promo campaigns of “Action Replayy” are giving Akki a tough time. The actor was mobbed playing the DJ at a night club in Delhi, where girls ripped his jacket to get a picture with the action star! Akshay, however, obliged the crazy fans and continued the action without his jacket. Another event got out of control in a Mumbai nightclub where youngsters broke glasses and furniture on not being allowed to enter the jam-packed venue to meet the actor. Even worse, Akshay and other crew member of the movie left with injuries on their arms and back… Now that’s way too much action even for Akshay!

Akshay Kumar: My son, my soul'

Akshay KumarThe rough-and-tough star of Bollywood, Akshay Kumar is all excited about the second round of the Akshay Kumar Karate Tournament, which will be held in Mumbai in October this year. Akshay has always believed in encouraging young kids to learn martial arts and had flagged off the event last year as well. However, the action hero has a soft corner for his son and wishes to spend even the last five minutes of his life with his baby and blindly follow him wherever he'd want to go. Well, the manly star sure seems like a softie at heart.

Daredevil in demand!
The action star Akshay Kumarof Bollywood had once dedicated his award to Aamir Khan, and is now the choice of the man who had directed Aamir in 'Ghajini'. AR Murugadoss has roped in Akshay for his next Hindi venture, which will supposedly have a budget of Rs 20-25 crore for action sequences alone! Murugadoss is polishing his Hindi speaking skills and, as per Akki's diktat, would make the action sequences fun and not gory. Akshay's co-star hasn't been finalised yet, but he has agreed to work with Asin, who had previously refused 'De Dana Dan' with him because the role hadn't attracted her enough. Hope all falls in place for AR with Akki and Asin'

Canada calling

'Khatta Akshay KumarMeetha', the first offering from Akshay Kumar's production house Hari Om Productions, has failed in generating as much moolah the newly-turned producer might have hoped for, but this hasn't dampened Akki's spirits much. The Bollywood superstar is now producing a Canadian film 'Break Away', which is to be directed by Robert Lieberman. Immensely popular in Canada, it isn't surprising that Akshay is trying his fortune with Canadian audiences before heading out to what we bet is his ultimate destination ' Hollywood.

End of Osama bin Laden, trouble for Pakistan

Katrina KaifKat fight continues!

Doesn’t look like Katrina Kaif and Deepika Padukone have buried the hatchet and become friends as yet. On the chat show “Koffee with Karan”, Deepika happened to mention that she’d like to see Katrina Kaif’s passport to find out if she’s actually 26, the age that she claims to be. And Katrina, too, did not choose to stay tight-lipped about this when asked for her comments. The actress smiled and said that whoever wishes to have a peek into her passport is welcome. Well, go ahead Dippy!

Katrina Kaif Vs Deepika Padukone

Katrina Vs DeepikaTwo of Bollywood’s hottest stars, Katrina Kaif and Deepika Padukone have finally put an end to their cold war, which had started long ago over actor Ranbir Kapoor. Previously, when Deepika was in a relationship with Ranbir, she had suspected him of getting too close with Katrina. On certain occasions the two girls had even completely ignored each other’s presence, but now both have agreed to perform at a stage show in Las Vegas. Now, it’s for the audiences to wait and watch!

Katrina KaifThe all-new Katrina Kaif!

The audience has always swooned at Katrina’s on-screen charm, which has apparently started to bother the actress because she does not only want to look good, but also do substantial roles. Kat admits that she even desires to portray herself as a malicious manipulator! Also, following her split with Salman Khan, the actress has decided to avoid working with him, though she denied any kind of bitterness in their relation and still considers Sallu to be her best guide. With big-banner films in your kitty, let’s hope we soon get to see a ‘new’ you Katrina!

Kim Kardashian is an Entrepreneur, Actress, Model, Socialite

IIPM BBA MBA Institute: Student Notice Board

Kim KardashianKim Kardashian: People’s rage, Kim’s delight?

Ask who’s most popular these days for taking her clothes off and the first name that strikes one is Kim Kardashian. But it seems like Kim isn’t satisfied enough with her popularity because now she’s gone and attended a basketball game in an outfit with a fur sleeve, which has left several people enraged, especially considering that her sister Khloe has advertised with PETA saying that she would rather go naked than wear fur! These days Kim is working with Terius Nash on a music album and this act could perhaps be a trick to just stay in the news before the album releases. Well, for fame, you gotta find the right reasons too girl!

Kim KardashianKim Kardashian: Sit-up, it's Kim!

Kim Kardashian is nowadays working on her curves, and claims that her tummy is her best feature. Working hard day in and day out, she doesn't only jog a few miles daily, but also does a strenuous workout, which includes 200 sit-ups daily to maintain those washboard abs. Although she dislikes her thighs (no matter what her fans say!) she says she'll learn to like them soon if she can't get them in the desired tone. A certain men's magazine recently released her 3-year-old never-before-seen nude pictures, which enraged Kim, but then again her fans have only raised expectations now! It's a good idea to keep that adrenalin pumping Kim!

Kim KardashianKim Kardashian: The joker's back

Kim Kardashian has a rather stubborn stalker. Even after she got a restraining order against Dennis Shaun Bowman, which prohibits him from contacting Kim till 2013, he isn't ready to back off. While earlier he would turn up at Kardashian's personal appearances, at times with his face painted like Joker from "Batman", now he is contacting her sister and beau through Twitter! Still a violation of court's orders, the nervous reality-star has reportedly headed straight to the cops. Looks like this bird isn't going to rest till she sees Dennis as a jail-bird!
